Lawmakers urge Obama to keep auto tariffs on Japan
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A group of Democratic lawmakers on Thursday urged President Barack Obama to insist on keeping a 2.5 percent tariff on Japanese autos and a 25 percent tariff on Japanese trucks if the United States and Japan enter into free trade negotiations.

Gold Ends Modestly Up as Buyers Step in When U.S. Dollar Index Sells Off
Gold prices ended the U.S. day session with modest gains and near the daily high on a late-day bounce. Bargain hunters stepped in to buy the dip in gold prices at the same time the U.S. dollar index sold off from higher levels seen earlier in the day.

Credit Suisse to pay $400 million to end U.S. bond lawsuits
ZURICH/NEW YORK (Reuters) – Credit Suisse Group AG has agreed to pay at least $400 million to settle lawsuits by investors over the Swiss bank’s role in raising money for a healthcare financier that collapsed in a $2.9 billion fraud more than a decade ago.
