United States Housing Secretary Ben Carson Confused A Basic Real Estate Term For A Cookie

Business Insider reports that United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson confused a common professional real estate term with a cookie. Secretary Carson became confused about the basic real estate term “REO” during testimony in front of a congressional panel on Tuesday. Congresswoman Katie Porter asked Carson if he is familiar with REOs, which is a common abbreviation for the term “real-estate owned”. Secretary Carson responded “An Oreo?” Porter quickly interjected, “No. Not an Oreo. An R-E-O. An R-E-O.” Carson then asked, “Real estate?” and Porter asked if he knew what the “O” stood for, Carson incorrectly replied “organization.” Carson has run the United Staes Department of Housing and Urban Development since 2017.
