Let’s take a look at the various stimulus packages that are being proposed, including the Emergency Money For The People Act that would provide Americans over the age of 16 with $2,000 per month. This proposal is the closest thing that I’ve seen to universal basic income and could help a lot of struggling US citizens.
With the first round of stimulus checks hitting bank accounts across the country, where do we go from here in terms of disaster relief for millions of Americans? The first CARES Act provided $2.3 trillion of disaster relief to struggling US citizens and small businesses and the upcoming CARES Act 2 could double, or even triple those funds.
While trillions of dollars of debt is not an ideal situation for the USA, it may be our only appropriate course of action. People are in need of COVID-19 relief funds and this proposal could pump some much needed money into the American economy.
In addition to stimulus checks, the Federal Government provided additional funds to the SBA relief efforts through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL). Will these programs get another round of funding, possibly for 6-12 months like the Emergency Money For The People Act?
