The National Debt Clock ran out of space for digits back in September of 2008 when the debt hit $10 trillion. Over four years later, the U.S. debt is at its $16.4 trillion debt ceiling. Though the United States is no longer on the edge of the “fiscal cliff,” Congress is expected to address spending cuts to avoid a dramatic debt increase.
