After unveiling a new File Explorer, Microsoft is adding a new feature to the desktop of Windows 10 this time: the News Bar. This allows you to aggregate all the news and keep an eye on it, right from the operating system desktop.
Mentioned by Microsoft last February, the News Bar is now in more detail and is even available for download as a beta. This time it’s not about Windows Vista PowerToys or the time or calculator and other widgets, but a full sidebar that fetches news from more than 4500 media, including Microsoft News partner, feeds that supercharge MSN and Bing.
No more launching the browser, the News Bar takes care of aggregating the latest news and displaying it directly on the desktop in the form of small thumbnails. Just like the taskbar, the News Bar can be moved around and “stuck” up, down or to the sides. And if you’re worried about being distracted by these thumbnails, you can also turn them off to show only the news headline.
