Student Loan debt is now the second highest debt crisis in the United States with over 44 million people owing a total of over $1.52 trillion dollars. Almost 99% of applicants for Public Service Loan Forgiveness were denied. People cannot afford to buy homes or even pay their rent, and many are living with their parents just to keep up with payments. With so much debt drowning college graduates, our nation is feeling the negative effects in the housing market, the job market and even at the local grocery store. Matthew Panzano has two proposals that would both permanently change the game of higher education costs and consequences. Matthew Panzano is a public high school teacher with an M.Ed. in Social Studies Education, a B.A. in Anthropology, Minor in History. He is a leadership facilitator for the Delta Upsilon Fraternity, a global ambassador for “Education First”, and an activist for student
and education rights in the state of Florida. Mr. Panzano has fought for school funding for Florida public schools in Tallahassee and was featured in the Washington Post during the march for the “Fund Our Future” campaign. He has traveled to over 20 countries
and studied the various education systems that have been implemented in Europe, Asia and South America in order to gain a global perspective about what defines “success” in each culture.
