With death toll from the deadly coronavirus surpassing 13, 054 worldwide, doctors and hospitals are on the race to provide immediate relief and treatment for coronavirus patients while the search for vaccine continues. The good news is that there’s been some hope around antimalaria drugs like chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine that had held promise as a potential treatment for the coronavirus.
As we reported early this week, a small trial by French researchers found highly positive results from hydroxychloroquine combined with azithromycin — “75% patients turned #coronavirus negative after 600mg hydroxychloroquine treatment for 6 days vs only 10% in control group.

As for chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine study in France, the results showed that all six patients treated with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin tested negative for the virus after six days. Of the 20 treated with just hydroxychloroquine, 57.1% tested negative for the coronavirus after six days. Just 12.5% of the control group made up of 16 other patients tested negative. “Despite its small sample size our survey shows that hydroxychloroquine treatment is significantly associated with viral load reduction/disappearance in COVID-19 patients and its effect is reinforced by azithromycin,” the study said.”
