One of Santa Barbara’s most popular Italian restaurants has a new home on State Street.
Pascucci has moved to 509 State St. after more than 25 years in Paseo Nuevo.
“We’re really excited about the new location,” owner Laura Knight said. “It’s a very vibrant block. Everything is kind of moving closer to the beach, and shopping trends have changed downtown. It’s a good restaurant block.”
Pascucci’s is one of the most long-lasting and durable restaurants in Santa Barbara and along the South Coast.
Knight grew up in Santa Barbara, and she said her first job in high school was working in Piccadily Square, the site of the current Paseo Nuevo.
She has seen State Street change over the years, and she said she’s impressed with how many entrepreneurs are now sharing spaces because it allows them to share rents.
Knight urges more people to come downtown and experience how the street is changing.
“It’s a beautiful downtown,” Knight said. “The whole experience of shopping and going downtown, hopefully that’s not lost and people will still come downtown and enjoy. We’ve got theaters, we’ve got museums, we’ve got so much going on down here.”
As for Pascucci’s, Knight said she is excited about the reopening, and she recommended the chicken piccata.
“I never get tired of it,” she said.
The restaurant also serves seven flavors of McConnell’s ice cream.
Merrill Lynch Appoints Anthony Consiglio
Merrill Lynch Wealth Management has appointed Anthony Consiglio to the position of market executive for the Valley Coast market.
He will oversee seven offices with nearly 120 financial advisers along the Central Coast region of San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Montecito and Ventura/Oxnard along with the northern Los Angeles County areas of Westlake Village, Encino and the Woodland Hills, according to a news release.
“Anthony brings a wealth of experience to this new role,” West Division executive Jeff Markham said. “He understands the importance of personalized investment advice to achieve clients’ goals.”
Consiglio joined Merrill Lynch in 2018 as an associate market manager for the Los Angeles market.
He graduated from Quinnipiac University in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in finance.
Attorney Gains Alzheimer’s Disease Certification
Local attorney Terri Hilliard recently completed training to become a certified Alzheimer’s disease and dementia care practitioner.
Hilliard has law offices in Westlake Village, Santa Barbara and Burbank. Her team works regularly with dementia sufferers and their families to create asset, business and estate protection plans, according to a news release. She is also a private mediator, helping families, elders and others resolve disputes.
She received her certification through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. The accreditation, along with establishing her expertise, will allow her to train other attorneys and community members such as nurses, social workers and first responders on best practices for meeting the needs of the vulnerable population.
Hilliard frequently gives talks on topics such as senior care, Medi-Cal, long-term care, senior abuse and scams, estate and financial planning, aging, and strategies for health and wealth.
Alzheimer’s is the sixth-leading cause of death and the costliest disease in the United States, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. Nearly 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s, including many in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. By midcentury, the number of people living with dementia is expected to more than double.
