PELOSI LOOKS TOWARDS ‘ROOSEVELTIAN’ LEVEL OF RELIEF: Speaker Nancy Pelosi holds her weekly press conference as the House prepares for the next round of coronavirus relief. House Democrats are looking to provide more support to state and local governments, increase contact tracing capabilities, and offer more unemployment benefits, as the GOP-led Senate remains against another sweeping round of legislation. Pelosi has said she is looking to ‘go big’ with this next round of relief, saying that ‘at the time of this coronavirus challenge, especially now, we have every reason to protect our workers and our patients in all of this.’ Other House members have already been putting forward other potential bills, like Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) who introduced Student Loan Forgiveness for Frontline Health Workers Act which would have some health care workers’ student debt cancelled.
