Nextdoor neighbourhood social media application is adding a new interactive Help Map that shows where people in the community are in need and where those who can help are located.
In an effort to bring resources to people in communities who are significantly more at risk of developing dangerous symptoms if they contract the coronavirus or are simply unable to leave their home during the pandemic, the neighbourhood-focused social media app Nextdoor launched the Help Map, a feature designed to connect people in need with people who can help.
The company describes the tools as a “screenshot of your neighbourhood and its resources. Members can add themselves to the map detailing the errands or support they can help elderly and at risk neighbours with”. Users can offer essentially any type of free service from picking up groceries to checking in on people via a phone call.
This Help Map launched in the United States on March 18 and will roll out to the company’s international markets over the next few days. – AFP Relaxnews
